On the evening of April 4, 2026, I visited Yeonggwang Bossam and enjoyed their delicious bossam. Upon entering the restaurant, several tables were already occupied by diners.

  • The signature dish is Bossam.
  • Waiting time was approximately 10-30 minutes.
  • Estimated budget per person is around 20,000 KRW.
  • Waiting times may occur during weekday and weekend evenings, so it's recommended to visit early or try to be the first in line.

The bossam I tried was tender, with a good balance of lean meat and fat. The accompanying bossam kimchi was not overly strong in fermented seafood flavor and had a clean taste. The seasoned bean sprouts and chives served alongside were also fresh, creating a harmonious combination.

Visit Information

Yeonggwang Bossam is conveniently located just a 2-3 minute walk from Gongdeok Station, making it very easy to find. On April 4th, the day I visited, I waited about 10-30 minutes. Since the food came out relatively quickly, it didn't take too long. However, please note that waiting times might be longer during weekday evenings or weekend peak hours.

  • Convenient access via public transportation due to its proximity to Gongdeok Station.
  • Waited around 10-30 minutes, but the turnover rate is good.
  • Waiting time may increase during peak hours.
  • Visit date is as of April 4, 2026.

Space and Atmosphere

As I entered the restaurant, the lively chatter of office workers was the first thing I heard. Although it was a bit noisy, the interior space was generally kept clean. It's good to be aware that the noise level might increase slightly in the evenings with customers enjoying drinks.

  • A lively atmosphere with a moderate number of people even during lunchtime.
  • A good place for a casual drink with colleagues after work.

The bossam I ordered had more lean meat than fat, and it melted softly in my mouth. I appreciated its savory and moist texture without any gamey smell. The accompanying bossam kimchi was not spicy and had a refreshing taste, feeling clean as it didn't have a strong fermented seafood flavor. The side dishes, seasoned bean sprouts and chives, had a slight sweetness that paired well with the bossam. At 28,000 KRW for two people, it was a satisfying meal for around 20,000 KRW per person.

  • The bossam meat is lean, tender, and savory.
  • The bossam kimchi is not spicy, clean, and refreshing.
  • Side dishes such as seasoned bean sprouts and chives are provided.
  • Some may find the meat slightly dry depending on preference.

Tips & Notes

The makgeolli (rice wine) is not kept in large quantities and can run out quickly. If you wish to try it, it's recommended to order it immediately upon being seated.

  • Suitable for lunch or dinner gatherings with drinks.
  • Waiting times may occur on weekday and weekend evenings, so consider visiting at opening time or arriving early.
  • Makgeolli is limited and can sell out quickly, so order immediately if you want it.

Overall Review

My dining experience at Yeonggwang Bossam was satisfactory overall. I believe it deserves a visitor rating of 4.5/5 stars. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty meal near Gongdeok Station. We experienced a waiting time of about 10-30 minutes, but the taste was well worth the wait. I hope to try other menu items if I get the chance.

  • The tender, savory, and gamey-free bossam was impressive.
  • Waiting times are possible, so it's advisable to visit at opening or plan accordingly.
  • Recommended for lunch or dinner gatherings with drinks.
