A sweet secret hidden in the alleys of Yeonnam-dong: Strawberry 32 and its fruit-filled cakes
Walking through the winding backstreets of Yeonnam-dong, your mood starts to lift almost without noticing. Among the people strolling near Yeontral Park, one pink-toned storefront quietly catches the eye.
Tucked into a quiet residential block, the shop draws curiosity not with a flashy sign but with a modest entrance and a clear focus on cake pickup only. There are no dining tables and no wide hall, only a tidy counter and work area. That simplicity ends up sharpening the attention on what matters most here: fruit cakes made with care.
A peek into the cake workshop
Once inside, the first thing that stands out is the stack of fruit boxes prepared for the season. In winter, bright boxes of strawberries fill the room, while in summer the shelves turn golden with mangoes. It makes it obvious that this is less a standard dessert cafe and more a workshop devoted to fruit cakes.
The waiting area is built only for pickup customers, with a few chairs and a workflow optimized for cake-making and packaging. Every movement in the shop feels designed to get fresh fruit safely onto cakes and out the door as efficiently as possible.
Small interior details that make the place warm
One wall of the work area holds a series of atmospheric photographs, which keeps the store from feeling like a pure production space. A red MacBook on the counter also adds a playful touch and makes the whole place feel like a small studio where every visual detail matters.
Identity pieces with a little bit of story
The front of the display case and the packing counter both include small items that reinforce the store's identity. There are logo stickers, small souvenirs, and even keychains for sale, so the shop offers a little fun beyond dessert itself.
They also sell a range of birthday candles that make the pickup experience feel even more celebration-ready.
The real stars: cakes and drinks
Winter's red gem: the strawberry cake
As the name Strawberry 32 suggests, the seasonal strawberry cake is the signature here. It usually starts appearing around December, and the cake is generously topped and filled with strawberries. The whole thing feels built to deliver maximum fruit impact rather than just cream and sponge.
The genoise is fine-textured and moist, while the whipped cream uses a light animal-based cream that lets the fruit stay at the center of the flavor. If you chill it well before eating, the tartness of the strawberries comes through even more clearly.
Summer's golden temptation: the mango cake
Once strawberry season ends, the golden mango cake takes over. It is packed with ripe mango flesh inside and on top, so every bite feels full of sweetness and juice.
Both seasonal cakes require reservation and are offered in two sizes, mini and size 1, making them useful for either a small celebration or a slightly larger gathering.
Fresh-fruit milk drinks worth adding
Beyond the cakes, the fresh strawberry milk and mango milk are easy extras to recommend. Instead of relying on syrup, they use real fruit, so the drinks feel clean, creamy, and refreshing.

📌 Location
1F, 8 Yeonnam-ro 5-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Strawberry 32
About a 9-10 minute walk from Hongik University Station Exit 3 (AREX and Gyeongui-Jungang Line)
The experience at Strawberry 32 lingers as more than a simple cake pickup. There is the thrill of securing a reservation, the bright visual impact of the cakes, and the clean fruit-forward flavor once you finally cut into them. For a Yeonnam date course or a celebration dessert, it is a very convincing choice.
Next time, I want to come back for the strawberry cake.
